Map-based vs list-based event discovery — what is better?

List and feed apps order events by category, popularity, or an engagement algorithm. That works for browsing, but it buries the most relevant fact about a local event: how close it is to you.

A map leads with proximity. You instantly see what is within reach, and the spatial layout itself communicates clustering — which neighbourhood is busy this weekend, what is on along your route.

Map.ca keeps a list and calendar view too, but the map is the anchor because, for real-world events, “near me” is the query that matters most.
