Why use Map.ca for events instead of Eventbrite or Meetup?
Most event platforms are list or feed apps you have to be inside to use. Map.ca is a map first: every event is a Pin at a real coordinate, so people discover it the way they actually move through a place — by looking at what is near them — instead of scrolling a category page or a social feed.
Posting a free community event on Map.ca is free. A paid or ticketed event uses a Pin, which is a flat $21 per year — Map.ca does not take a percentage of your ticket sales and does not sit between you and your attendees. Compare that to platforms that add a per-ticket service fee on top of every sale.
Discovery is by proximity and visible tags, with no sponsored ranking and no paid placement — you cannot buy your way to the top. And the presence is persistent: your Pin and your audience stay with you after the event ends, instead of evaporating with a one-off event page.
