Topics unlock as you master their prerequisites, so you build on solid ground rather than skipping ahead.
It runs in your browser as a Learning tile on map.ca, with nothing to install. Your progress is yours: saved to your account if you are signed in, or to your own device if not, and exportable as a file.

How mastery and spaced review work
Each concept moves you through learn, practice, and a mastery check. The mastery check asks for both the correct answer and a short explanation of your reasoning, because being able to say why is the difference between memorising and understanding.
Once you master a concept it comes back for a quick review on a spacing schedule — days, then a week, then longer — using active recall. Do well and the next review is pushed further out; struggle and it returns sooner. A personal progress score tracks several dimensions of your learning (mastery, retention, consistency, and how well you handle real-world word problems) and is always you-versus-your-past, never a leaderboard.
How to use Math Helper
- Open Math Helper. Launch the Math Helper Learning tile on map.ca — it opens in your browser with nothing to install.
- Pick an unlocked concept. Start on the concept map and choose an available topic; locked topics open once their prerequisites are mastered.
- Learn, then practise. Read the explanation and worked example, then try the low-stakes practice questions to build fluency.
- Take the mastery check. Answer the questions and explain your reasoning; reach the threshold to mark the concept mastered.
- Come back for review. Return when a review is due for a short active-recall quiz so the concept stays learned over time.
