Typing Tutor is a free, in-browser way to build typing speed and accuracy. It pairs a calm, measured practice mode with a fast Word Rain game, so you can drill the keyboard at your own pace or under a bit of pressure — and it tracks your words-per-minute and accuracy as you go.

Typing Tutor is two practice modes in one tool. In sentence mode you type a set of words in order with live, character-by-character feedback — correct letters turn green, mistakes turn red — and you get your words-per-minute (WPM) and accuracy at the end. In Word Rain mode, words fall from the top of the screen and you type them before they reach the floor; clearing words builds a streak, and missing them costs a life.
It runs entirely in your browser as a Learning tile on map.ca. There is nothing to install and no account needed, and your best score for each difficulty is saved on your own device.
Who it is for
Anyone building keyboard skills — from someone learning to type for the first time to a fast typist who wants to push their speed. The difficulty levels (from beginner up to a harder “storm” setting) let you start gentle and ramp up.

How the two modes work
Sentence mode is deliberate: type each word, press space to move on, and watch your accuracy in real time. It rewards steady, correct typing rather than racing — your best WPM only records when your accuracy stays reasonable.
Word Rain adds time pressure. New words appear on a cadence set by the difficulty level, drift down at varying speeds, and lock on when what you type uniquely matches one of them. Consecutive clears multiply your points, so accuracy under pressure pays off — and letting a word hit the floor costs a life until the round ends.
How to use Typing Tutor
- Open Typing Tutor. Launch the Typing Tutor Learning tile on map.ca — it opens in your browser with nothing to install.
- Pick a mode. Choose measured Sentence practice or the Word Rain falling-words game from the mode strip.
- Choose a difficulty. Start gentle and move up as you improve; the level sets the word pool and, in Word Rain, the pace.
- Type. Type the words shown (press space to advance in sentence mode) or clear falling words before they reach the floor in Word Rain.
- Check your score and repeat. Review your WPM and accuracy, then play again to beat your saved best.
