Head-to-headFacebook Events

Map.ca vs Facebook Events — where should I post my event?

Facebook Events is free, but it only works if your audience is on Facebook. Discovery happens inside the app and through the social graph, the feed algorithm decides how many people actually see it, and the page is not a public, crawlable destination people can reach from outside Facebook.

Map.ca puts your event on an open, public map. Anyone can browse what is happening near them without an account, the listing is indexable, and there is no feed algorithm deciding who gets to see it — discovery is by proximity and tags.

You also keep ownership. On Map.ca the Pin and the presence are yours and persist on the map; you are not renting reach inside someone else’s social network.
